Resilience

It is hard to acknowledge that you’re unhappy. Harder still to accept that you and only you can save yourself from your misery. But once the truth is told, redemption is inevitable. Misery seduces me into chanting its song: “why me!” But I can’t in all fairness say that because I never sing “why me” when I am offered love often more than I’ve earned. When I receive compliments on my intellect or how I look or when that elusive burst of creativity comes to me without a struggle. So I will toss my head as misery continues to grovel at my feet and say ‘so what if me, I can deal with it.’
